DISCUSSION
On March 7, 2017, the City Council approved Contract No. PS95866000LBPD24750, formerly contract number PS5862300LBPD24750, with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Iransportation Authority (LACMTA) to provide daily law enforcement services based on an eight-station model focusing on addressing crime, disorder, and reducing the system's vulnerability to terrorism. The current contract will be extended for an additional six months until December 21, 2022, with an option to extend the term of the contract for an additional six months until June 30, 2023.

As part of the contract extension, LACMTA is requiring all employees assigned to the contract be vaccinated with a Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) / World Health Organization (WHO) approved COVID-19 Vaccine or have an approved religious or medical exemption. LACMTA has released a Request for Proposals for transit law enforcement services, due July 7, 2022.
