RESOLUTION NO. RES-22-0119
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LONG BEACH AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH
PEOPLESPACE INC., WITHOUT ADVERTISING FOR BIDS,
FOR OFFICE FURNITURE AND EQUIPMENT LAYOUT
DESIGN, ASSEMBLY, AND INSTALLATION, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $300,000 DOLLARS, FOR A
PERIOD OF TWO-YEARS, WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW
FOR TWO ADDITIONAL TWO-YEAR PERIODS, AT THE
DISCRETION OF THE CITY MANAGER
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Long Beach, Section 1801, permits the City Manager to enter into a contract on behalf of the City, in writing or otherwise, without advertising for bids, for services, supplies, materials, equipment or labor for actual emergency work when authorized by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the new Long Beach Civic Center opened in Summer 2019 which includes City Hall, Port Administration, and the Billie Jean King Library; and WHEREAS, this major facility move required new furniture and office ware purchases; and
WHEREAS, PeopleSpace was the sole City vendor who facilitated the furnishing of all three buildings; and
WHEREAS, the various City departments have required additional furnishings; and to ensure a consistent look, feel and match, PeopleSpace has continued providing service for the past three years; and
WHEREAS, PeopleSpace is uniquely positioned to continue to support the City's needs to quickly and efficiently address any furniture modifications; and EWM:bg A22-01842 (06-13-2022)

1 1 WHEREAS, PeopleSpace the only authorized Haworth dealer in Southern 2 California; and
3 WHEREAS, as a result, no useful purpose would be served by advertising 4 for bids and to do so would constitute an idle and useless act and unnecessary expenditure 5 of public funds;
6 NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Long Beach resolves as 7 follows:

Section 1 . The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with PeopleSpace Inc., without advertising for bids, for office furniture and equipment layout design, assembly, and installation in an amount not to exceed Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000) for a period of two (2) years, with the option to renew for two (2) additional two-year periods, at the discretion of the City Manager.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council, and the City Clerk shall certify the vote adopting this resolution.
