_____________________________________________________________________ Date: July 19, 2022
To: Honorable Mayor Garcia and Members of the City Council From: Councilwoman Suely Saro, Sixth District
Subject: Fund Transfer Request to Support Cambodia Town Inc. 15th Anniversary Dinner of the Cambodia Town Designation
______________________________________________________________________ RECOMMENDATION:

Increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $750, offset by the Sixth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to Cambodia Town Inc to support their 15th Anniversary Dinner of the Cambodia Town Designation; and, Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $750 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

Discussion
Cambodia Town Inc. is hosting the 15th Anniversary Dinner of the Cambodia Town Designation on July 16, 2022. Cambodia Town is the official name for a roughly one-mile long business corridor along Anaheim Street between Atlantic and Junipero avenues in the Eastside of Long Beach, California.

Cambodia Town Inc. is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that spearheaded the campaign to designate a 1.2-mile stretch in Long Beach as “Cambodia Town.” This volunteer organization seeks to revitalize the neighborhood by attracting more businesses, visitors and tourists to the area. Cambodia Town is located along the business corridor of Anaheim Street between Atlantic and Junipero Avenues in Long Beach. Long Beach has the largest concentration of Cambodians outside of Cambodia.

This matter has been reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on July 13, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Cambodia Town Inc. to support their 15th Anniversary Dinner of the Cambodia Town Designation. The total NB-29
appropriation increase of $750 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

STATEMENT OF URGENCY:

This urgent item is being submitted through supplemental agenda to allow for timely funds processing.
