-EXTERNAL-
Dear Mayor, Coucilpersons and staff.
Thank you for what you do to keep Long Beach moving forward and balancing the various demands of the city's resources.
As you consider the 2023 City Budget I want to request that you continue funding The Lamppost Project. Not only is it a worthy endeavor with strong support from city residents, the Lamppost Project has been a successful collaboration with various City Departments and neighborhood leaders. We have raised a sizable amount of funds over the years and are now working on raising funds for Phase 4. The Bluff Park Neighborhood Association has worked hard to get private donations, participate in Long Beach Gives, solicit corporate donations, and BPNA has been successful in obtaining various grants in support of the project.
It is important to the project's momentum to keep the City funding going, especially after the setback due to the mandated lockdown due to COVID.
The beauty of our neighborhoods is essential to bringing tax dollars to our city. The Lamppost Project contributes to bringing attention to Historic Preservation, and draws residents from all over Long Beach, tourists, and enhances the backdrop to the many money-generating filming ventures that take part in Bluff Park Historic District.
I serve as Treasurer for the Bluff Park Neighborhood Association, so I know first hand how well supported the Lamppost Project is. I strongly ask for your support in funding the Lamppost Project for 2023.
