A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LONG BEACH ACKNOWLEDGING, RECOGNIZING
AND AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SISTER
CITY AFFILIATION BETWEEN THE CITY OF LONG BEACH,
CALIFORNIA, USA, AND THE CITY OF TAOYUAN CITY,
TAIWAN
The City Council of the City of Long Beach resolves as follows:
Section 1. Pursuant to the request by the Board of Directors of the Taoyuan Sister City Formation Committee, along with key Long Beach Stakeholders including professors at CSULB, local business owners and community residents, a formal application was received by the City the Long Beach. The Long Beach City Council hereby acknowledges, recognizes and authorizes the establishment of a Sister City affiliation between the City of Long Beach, California, USA, and Taoyuan City, Taiwan, for the following purposes:
A. To provide a mutually beneficial exchange and dialogue for business opportunities, port strategies and cultural enrichment; and B. To provide opportunities for friendship and social, economic and educational exchanges.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council, and the City Clerk shall certify the vote adopting this resolution. 25 II
