From: Stella Ursua – Green Education Inc. & GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles RE: Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) – Item 27

Dear Long Beach City Council members,

My name is Stella Ursua, 2nd District resident, President Emeritus at Green Education Inc. and Senior Programs-Partnerships Manager at GRID Alternatives Greater LA.

I am respectfully requesting that Council approve the CAAP, provide funding to implement the plan and work continuously to improve it as we experience daily the devastating outcomes from climate change for our city and residents most impacted by ongoing disasters.

Each and every one of us are being impacted by climate change, and I have a strong interest in ensuring the city takes aggressive action to make historic investments in clean energy/transportation, rapidly reduce the use of fossil fuels, and to invest in adaptation and resilience solutions where impacts cannot be averted. We need to transition away from an oil- based economy and a long legacy of environmental injustice as quickly as possible so that our children and future generations have a fighting chance for survival.

Thank you for voting “Yes” on the Long Beach Climate Action & Adaptation Plan tonight.

Sincerely,

Stella Ursua
