Honorable Mayor Garcia and Members of the City Council
Daryl Supernaw, Councilman, Fourth District
Suzie Price, Councilwoman, Third District
Transfer of Funds: Long Beach Public Library Foundation Grape Expectations
RECOMMENDATION:
Increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $2,000, offset by $1,000 in the Third Council District One-Time District Priority Funds, and $1,000 in the Fourth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to the Long Beach Public Library Foundation for their Grape Expectations· event; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $2,000 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION:
On September 18, 2022, the Long Beach Public Library Foundation will be hosting its Grape Expectations event. The Long Beach Public Library Foundation provides support to enhance the Long Beach Public Library system and encourages literacy and education for all members of the community. Since 1996, the Long Beach Public Library Foundation has advocated for equal access to literacy, education, technology, and essential community resources through the Long Beach Public Library.
This matter was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on August 11, 2022.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to the Long Beach Public Library Foundation for their Grape Expectations event. The total appropriation increase of $2,000 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation from the Third and Fourth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
