-EXTERNAL-

Good morning City of Long Beach - Vice Mayor and City Council Members,

On behalf of Project Dignity, we would like to express our gratitude for the time to present the efforts at MacArthur Park for the last 7 months, what's ahead, and the need for a homeless master plan at City Council last night.

I apologize for not having enough printed Supplemental Resources, however, they are attached to this email as well as the presentation.

We support the need for an unhoused master plan based on harm reduction principles instead of criminality and focused on community collaborations, communication, & coordinated entry points.

We also support the need for an infrastructure that re-visions our perceptions of substance use/abuse and transition housing to focus on options for wellness, recovery, and trauma therapies, not blanket programs that do not work for everyone, as well as re-entry support. We need to take a look at a what mental health assisted living might look like in the city. Let's lead with compassion, collaboration, and practicality.

I encourage you to look through the Supplemental Resources we provided with master plans that are working in similar cities like Houston and San Francisco and a proposed recommendations from LBPECC.

Long Beach has resources, services, and recommendations, but they are siloed and not connected efficiently nor is there a master plan. Project Dignity is an example of a coordinated entry point, but we need a plan, more organizing, and infrastructure.

Thank you again for your time and consideration.
