To: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council
From: Councilwoman Stacy Mungo Flanigan, Fifth District Subject: Fund Transfer: Contributions in Support of Local Non-Profits RECOMMENDATION:

Increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $7,700, offset by the Fifth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide donations to the following:
1) Historical Society of Long Beach, in the amount of $5,000, in support of their annual cemetery tour.
2) David Burcham PTA, in the amount of $200, for their APEX fundraiser and Fun Run. 3) WomenShelter of Long Beach, in the amount of $2,500, in support of their annual fundraising event.

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $7,700 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION:

Councilwoman Stacy Mungo Flanigan would like to support the following annual events and community programming:
• Historical Society of Long Beach: Sponsorship of their 26"h Annual Historical Cemetery Tour at Sunnyside and Municipal Cemeteries on Saturday, October 29, 2022, which educates residents on the history of Long Beach residents past. • David Burcham PTA: in support of their APEX fundraiser and Fun Run, a two-week all-inclusive leadership and fitness-based fundraiser.
• WomenShelter of Long Beach: in support of their annual fundraising event on Thursday, October 13, 2022, which aims to raise funds to eliminate domestic violence through compassionate intervention, education, and personal empowerment.

FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide contributions of $5,000 to Historical Society of Long Beach, $200 to David Burcham PTA, and $2,500 to WomenShelter of Long Beach, to support their events and programs as written above. The total appropriation increase of $7,700 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of Fifth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department.

This recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities. There is no local job impact associated with this item.
