Subject: Support for the Long Beach Arts Coundil
-EXTERNAL-
Dear City Clerk and members of the Long Beach City Council,
We know this email will not reach the City Clerk in time for the meeting that is being held tonight but our organization still wanted to voice our support for the renewal of the annual contract for the Long Beach Arts Council.
The Long Beach Community Band is a non-profit group that serves the city of Long Beach’s underserved parks and the families that live in those nearby neighborhoods. We are very appreciative of the Long Beach Community Grant Program. This program allows us to approach our music with a sense of creativity and adventure, knowing that if we have a good idea about better ways to serve our community, we can apply for financial support. The program allows us to dream, makes us part of a community of artists in Long Beach, and helps us to feel supported and valued. The financial support we have received in the past has been absolutely critical for a small, nonprofit ensemble such as ours.
We support the Arts Council’s mission to have the residents of Long Beach benefit from universal access to and participation in the arts, and we are happy to be a part of their vision.
Sincerely,
Jayne Montemer
Board President Long Beach Community Band.
