Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay sum of $150,000.00, in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Edward Benavidez vs. City of Long Beach, et al., Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. 21 STCV02509.
DISCUSSION
Plaintiff alleges he was injured by a condition of public property while riding his bicycle through Lakewood Blvd. tunnel on August 3, 2019.
Following extensive negotiations, Plaintiff agreed to accept $150,000.00 - inclusive of costs and fees - as a full settlement of this case.
The settlement was discussed in closed session, and approved, by the Government Operations and Efficiency Committee (Attorney/Client) on.March 21, 2023.
SUGGESTED ACTION:
Approve recommendation.
