RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay sum of $200,000.00, in full settlement of a lawsuit entitled Kayla Jentes, et al. v. City of Long Beach, at a!., Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. 20STCV29354.
DISCUSSION
Plaintiffs' vehicle was struck by a Public Works truck on November 13, 2019; Plaintiffs allege significant personal injury and severe emotional distress as a result of the collision.
Following extensive negotiations, Plaintiffs agreed to accept $200,000.00 - inclusive of costs and fees - as a full, global settlement of this dispute.
The settlement was discussed in closed session, and approved, by the Government Operations and Efficiency Committee (Attorney/Client) on Mav 23. 2023.
SUGGESTED ACTION:
Approve recommendation.
