Mark HAWKINS [email protected] "We" have a problem, don't we? While $$$ are spent DOWNTOWN with the Clean and Safe program, just to
east of DOWNTOWN is Alamitos Beach, a high-density
neighborhood with next to ZERO attention being spent
along the Broadway corridor, homeless strewn
throughout its neighborhood sidewalks and alleys.

Trash is piling up as PUBLIC WORKS makes its way
from the north to the south --- with the available trash workers on hand. Meanwhile, the City advertises for
REFUSE WORKERS to start at LESS THAN $20/hour
while we residents work to keep the trashing homeless
out of the overflowing bins. I have started up a CLEAN
program in Alamitos Beach and I find this INSULTING
to be raising rates while it is obvious this department is being MISMANAGED both on the staffing and financial
sides. The entire program --- trash/recycling --- needs to be OVERHAULED before rates go UP again. I will
continue to pick up trash and report oversized items
and do MY PART. The CITY needs to get its priorities
straight!
