RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation toauthorize theCityAttorneytosubmitStipulationswith Request for Award forapprovalby theWorkers'Compensation Appeals Board, and ifso approved, authorityto pay $227,722.50 forStipulationswithRequest forAward with a lifepension thereafterof$247.38 subjecttoCOLA increasesperweek in compliance with the Appeals Board Order for Robert Bernsen.
DISCUSSION:
Robert Bernsen has made a claimforinjuriesallegedlysustained in the course of his employment with the Cityof Long Beach. The Government Operations and Efficiency Committee on July 18, 2023, approved the submission to the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board of StipulationswithRequest forAward by the City and Robert Bernsen, based upon a 92 percentdisabilityratingwithprovisionfor a lifepension at the rate of $247.38subjectto COLA increasesperweek afterthe permanent disabilityhas been paid,withprovisionforlifetimemedicalcareas may be necessary.
SUGGESTION ACTION:
Approve recommendation.
