RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation to authorize City Attorney to pay sum of $75,000.00, in full settlement of lawsuit entitled Matthew Jorgensen v. City of Long Beach, Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. 20STC\/29858.
DISCUSSION:
Plaintiff alleges he stepped in a water-filled pothole in a crosswalk on December 1, 2019, resulting in injuries.
Following extensive negotiations, Plaintiff agreed to accept $75,000.00 - inclusive of costs and fees - as a full settlement of this case.
The settlement was discussed in closed session, and approved, by the Government Operations and Efficiency Committee (Attorney/Client) on August 15. 2023.
SUGGESTED ACTION:
Approve recommendation.
