-EXTERNAL-

Dear Mayor and City Council representatives,

In advance of next week’s city council meeting to approve the city’s 2024 budget, I am writing to strongly urge you to approve an increase to animal care and shelter services in the Long Beach city budget. At a minimum please approved the $400,000 proposed in the budget documents and the one additional staff member. But I urge you to please also find additional funding that the animal shelter and staff desperately need.

The residents of Long Beach have been promised for years by our city government that animal services would be improved and we are anxiously awaiting the promise to be fulfilled. Please make it a priority to change Long Beach to a no kill shelter and increase budget accordingly.

I am resident of District 4 and want to especially thank my city councilman, Darryl Supernaw, for his support of animal care services and for his outstanding leadership for our district.

Thank you in advance for taking action to make the Long Beach animal services and shelter a higher priority and add much more budget to assist with that priority.

Sincerely,

Janet Foster
