RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LONG BEACH APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT
AND TERMS OF COMPENSATION OF THE POLICE
OVERSIGHT DIRECTOR
WHEREAS, in November 2022, Long Beach voters approved Measure E, which established an Office of Police Oversight and a Police Oversight Commission; WHEREAS, on April 11, 2023, the City Council approved amending the FY 23 Salary Resolution to establish the Director of Police Oversight classification and authorized funding for an executive recruiter to fill this position; WHEREAS, On August 20 and 21, 2023, following a recruitment for a new Police Oversight Director, the City Council met in closed session pursuant to California Government Code Section 54957 and City Charter Article XIA Section 1152, discussed the most qualified candidate for the Police Oversight Director vacancy and discussed the appointment of Francine Kerridge as the Police Oversight Director; and WHEREAS, on August 20, 2023, pursuant to California Government Code Section 54957.6, the City Council provided direction to staff regarding the terms of compensation for the Police Oversight Director;
WHEREAS, at the direction of the City Council, the City has reached a tentative agreement with Francine Kerridge regarding compensation for the position of Police Oversight Director.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Long Beach resolves as follows:
Section 1. The City Council approves the appointment of Francine Kerridge as the Police Oversight Director for the City of Long Beach effective September 25, 2023.

1 Section 2. The City Council approves the terms of compensation for the 2 Police Oversight Director at the rate of $100.549 per hour or $209,860 on an annual 3 basis and an Executive Director transportation allowance currently set at $450.00 per 4 month. The Police Oversight Director compensation rate is subject to change by 5 applicable provisions in the City Salary Resolution or by Council action. 6 Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption 7 by the City Council, and the City Clerk shall certify the vote adopting this resolution. 8 I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was adopted by the City 9 Council of the City of Long Beach at its meeting of September 12 , 2023, by the following 10 11
