Date: October 3, 2023
To: Honorable Mayor and Council
From: Councilmember Kristina Duggan
Subject: Fund Transfer: Long Beach Touch A Truck
RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $639, offset by the Third Council District One-Time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department, to provide a donation of $639 to the Community Action Team to support Long Beach Touch A Truck; and,
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $639, to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION:

The annual Long Beach Touch-A-Truck event took place on Sunday, May 7, 2023. This event was free and open to the public and provided an interactive educational component for children and adults who are interested in learning about different transportation vehicles.

Furthermore, the event accepted food donations for community-based organizations assisting the City with homelessness outreach efforts.

This matter was reviewed by Budget Analyst Joe R. Guerrero on September 13, 2023.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Community Action Team to support the Long Beach Touch-A-Truck. The total appropriation increase of $639 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of Third Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The requested action is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and have a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities. There is no local job impact associated with the recommendation.
