Subject: Many sidewalk vendors outside Wilson High School selling junk food

-EXTERNAL-

I live in the 3rd district on Belmont Ave. Yesterday while walking my dogs, I walked by Wilson High School about the time the students were leaving for the day. Out in front of the school at the corner of 10th and Ximeno were at least four vendors, all selling junk food to students. I noticed one vendor sold cotton candy, another with pork rinds, another potato chips and another with ice cream. It is unconscionable that vendors are allowed to sell such junk food to students. Are vendors monitored and licensed with where and what they can sell?

I understand that the vendor issue will be addressed at an upcoming city council meeting. I would appreciate if you would relay my message to the council. Thank you.

Regards,

Beth Marx
