I support the establishment of Ageism Awareness Day in Long Beach. Too often Seniors are facing prejudice about their abilities simply because of their age, not their capabilities, whether it is in housing, medical care or elections to name a few areas. Seniors face ridicule because of their age. It is time to end this prejudice. After all it is estimated by the Los Angeles Time that people over 60 will be one quarter of the population by 2030 and we need to involve them in our plans if we want to grow our state.
