4 REVISED
Date: October 6, 2026
To: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council
From: Councilwoman Megan Kerr, Fifth District
Subject: Funds Transfer to support local organizations
RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,000, offset by the Fifth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide contributions to the following organizations:
• $500 to the Long Beach City College Foundation in support of their Beverly O’Neill Legacy Dinner;
• $500 to the Little Lion Foundation in support of their annual Whiskers in Wonderland Gala; and
Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $1,000, to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
Councilwoman Megan Kerr would like to support the following organizations and their events:
• Long Beach City College (LBCC) Foundation in support of their Beverly O’Neill Legacy Dinner on Thurs. October 1, 2026. This event will celebrate the legacy of Dr. Beverly O’Neill as former Mayor of Long Beach and Superintendent- President of LBCC.
Proceeds will also help fund the Beverly O’Neill Scholarship with the LBCC Foundation. • Little Lion Foundation in support of their “Whiskers in Wonderland Gala” on November 15, 2026. The Little Lion Foundation’s goal with this event is to raise funds to help lower the number of unwanted kittens and shelter intakes and increase the amount of healthier adopted kittens in our community.
This matter has been reviewed by Budget Manager Rebecca Bernstorff on September 28, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide contributions to the Long Beach City College Foundation in the amount of $500; and the Little Lion Foundation in the amount Honorable Mayor and City Council
October 6, 2026
of $500. The total appropriation increase of $1,000 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the Fifth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the normal budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities. There is no local job impact associated with this recommendation.
SUGGESTED ACTION

Respectfully submitted,
Megan Kerr, Councilwoman, Fifth District
