Hello -
I am a Parks and Sustainability commissioner, but am writing as a resident. I urge you to change the inscriptions allowed on plaques mounted on town assets (pg 3 of Adoption of Assets on Town Owned Property). One of the great features of all the benches in town is reading the plaques, looking for a fun, unique message. The messages give you a glimpse at the personality of the person to whom the bench is dedicated. There are often humorous tidbits or fun details about why the location selected was important to the dedicated person. I understand the need for a policy requiring review of the requested language, but feel this can be created quite easily. I do not think the vast majority of inscription requests will require deep thought about hidden messages. Adapting the short and frankly boring list currently outlined in the policy removes much of the joy from the plaques. Please continue to allow these inscriptions to reflect the unique personalities of Los Gatos residents and require staff to develop a review policy to maintain individual plaque messaging.

Thank you for your time,
Kim
