Hello,
I’m a resident of Los Gatos, residing in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I’m writing in support of raising the Progress Pride Flag (Item 13 on the agenda this week) for the month of June 2026.

I feel safe anytime I see a Pride flag. To me, it says that here is a place where people stand up for each other and listen, even if they don’t have the same experiences.

I also would like to share that I only learned about the 1969 Stonewall Uprising last year during Pride month. These stories are important and I only know a little bit of LGBTQ+ history because of Pride month! Telling these stories is how we can better understand each other and how we got here. Openly celebrating Pride month, taking small actions of support, like raising the Progress Pride Flag, create opportunities for us to more deeply understand one another and ultimately create a more peaceful world.

Thank you for bringing this topic up for discussion!
Best,
Amy

Hello,
I am writing in support of item 13 to be heard at the upcoming Los Gatos Town Council meeting on Feb. 17 - I urge you to support any needed policy changes that enable to Pride Flag to be raised at Town Hall during Pride month in June 2026 and in the future. Celebrating the experience of diverse groups of Americans and of their individual rights is ciritical at this time. Many many towns and cities in the Bay Area raise the Pride Flag in June and Los Gatos should be among them in honoring our LGBTQ family members, colleagues, friends and neighbors. Please vote yes on both items necessary to enable to Pride Flag to be raised.

Jessica Richter

Dear Council Members:

Today you will vote on a flag policy and the raising of the pride flag. I am in support of both.

Please stand up for diversity and inclusion by voting in favor of both.

As a licensed mental health professional of 40 years I have witnessed first hand the difficulty that many gay and trans youngsters have with accepting themselves in an environment that at times can be unwelcoming and even hostile. Sometimes living becomes unbearably painful when feeling so rejected by one’s family, friends and community. It is well documented the high rate of suicidal ideation and attempted suicides in this population.

I implore each and every council member to stand with these young people and vote in favor of the flag policy and raising of the pride flag.

Respectfully,
Denise A. Leffers, MFT

Dear Council Members
First of all, I would like to remain anonymous as I give my point of view on item 13, raising the pride flag. Let's start with that, why would I want to remain anonymous? I am a 16 year old, currently attending Los Gatos High School, so I should be enjoying my life, right? Free from any worries of adulthood, et cetera et cetera. Yet I still feel like I'll be attacked or something for wanting to speak out about an issue concerning inclusivity.

We should all be able to live our lives and feel at home inside our skin, yet we can't. I know many others just like me. Los Gatos should be a safe place for everyone, and raising the pride flag shows that. Even if you aren't part of the LGBTQ+ community, the flag still represents that you are an ally, someone who acknowledges that these people are in fact people.

This should be a simple decision, in my opinion. Raise the flag. It shows that everyone supports each other here. That should be the case.

Thank you, Council Members

Subject: Support testimony for Measure 13
[EXTERNAL SENDER]
My name is Nelson Kramer and I am a student at LGHS. In regard to Measure 13 and the proposal to raise the Pride flag in Los Gatos during the month of June, I am in full support.

As a student at Los Gatos High School, I can say that I’ve felt supported both as a student and as an individual for many years. I feel free to express every part of who I am, and it’s time we extend that same support to the queer community. The reality is that LGBTQ+ people live here too.

Many today may ask questions like “why do we have to show this outward support?” My answer is because we owe it to them. For example, you can raise your American flags and feel safe expressing an aspect of our identity, why can’t we extend that RIGHT to the LGBTQ community or simply the LGBTQ people who live in our community.

This goes beyond religious beliefs. This is about being an American. We live in a country where we all have the right to express ourselves, a country where we all deserve to feel supported.

To whoever may be reading this or listening to this digital testimony, please find it in your hearts to support this measure because it will go so far in lifting up our closest peers, friends, and family.

Sincerely,
Nelson K.

I am a member of the social justice committee of the Methodist church, an American of Japanese descent, a wife, and mother.

I have experienced prejudice because of my sex and my race. I urge the council to vote YES on both items; this will declare that our town is accepting and proud of all our residents.
