Proclamation
Earth Month is set aside annually to encourage us to deepen our understanding of the natural environment and our local community; and
the Manhattan Beach community depends on the continued preservation of our vibrant natural environment to provide a high quality of life and economic vitality for this generation and future generations; and
this year’s theme for Earth Month is Invest In Our Planet, which focuses on engaging governments, institutions, businesses, and more than one billion citizens who participate in Earth Day to do their part, “everyone accounted for, everyone accountable”; and
there are steps we can collectively take to plan, prepare, and build a resilient community to help preserve and sustain Manhattan Beach’s diverse economic, natural, and social resources; and
Earth Month is the beginning of a new year for environmental stewardship commitments, to implement sustainability efforts, and commit to an Earth Month resolution; and

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that I, Richard Montgomery, Mayor of the City of Manhattan Beach, California , on behalf of the City Council and the residents of Manhattan Beach, do hereby proclaim the month of April 2023 as
Earth Month
and encourage all of our residents, businesses and institutions, to contribute to a healthy, sustainable environment and to take action during this observance, and year-round.
