A RESOLUTION OF T HE MANHATTAN BEACH CITY
COUNCIL AMENDING THE PARKING AND PUBLIC
IMPROVEMENTS COMMISSION MEMBERSHIP TO
INCREASE THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS -AT-LARGE TO
FOUR
RECITALS
WHEREAS, pursuant to Manhattan Beach Municipal Code Chapter 2.44, the Manhattan Beach City Council established a Parking and Public Improvements Commission (“PPIC”);
WHEREAS, Municipal Code Section 2.44.030 provides: “Membership criteria for individual Boards, Commissions, and Committees shall be separately authorized by the City Council.”;
WHEREAS, pursuant to Municipal Code Section 2.44.030, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 6137 on May 6, 2008, to establish membership criteria for the PPIC;
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 6137 provides that three of the PPIC seats be “selected at-large”; and
WHEREAS, at the March 5, 2024 City Council Meeting ,, the City Council directed staff to draft a resolution for Council consideration to increase the number of “Members-At-Large” from three to four.
NOW THEREFORE, THE MANHATTAN BEACH CITY COUNCIL HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby amends subsection (b) of Section 1 (Membership) of Resolution No. 6137 to read as follows:
MEMBERSHIP.
(a) Four of the members shall be selected at-large and one of the members shall be selected from the business community (owning and/or operating businesses located in Manhattan Beach) excluding home based businesses.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution.
