RESOLUTION NO. 24-0037
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MANHATTAN BEACH ESTABLISHING A FEE AND REGULATIONS FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS WHEREAS, the City of Manhattan Beach bears the costs associated with electric vehicle charging stations which include the cost of electricity and associated maintenance and repair.
WHEREAS, such electric vehicle charging stations are used by the City staff as well as the public.
WHEREAS, the City desires to charge a fee for the use of such electric vehicle charging stations, which does not exceed the reasonable cost of providing the service.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MANHATTAN BEACH HEREBY FINDS, DETERMINES AND RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby adopts an electric vehicle charging station fee of $0.51 kWh, effective July 1, 2024. The Council hereby directs the City Clerk to revise the City’s Master Fee Schedule accordingly.
SECTION 2. The adoption of this Resolution approves a charge for the purpose of meeting the cost of operating and maintaining electrical vehicle charging stations for public use and is therefore exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”), Public Resources Code § 21080 et seq., pursuant to Public Resources Code § 21080(b)(8)(A) and Section 15273(a)(1) of the CEQA Guidelines.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution.
