Whereas. during Black History Month, we honor the extraordinary contributions made by African Americans whose power to lead, to overcome, and expand the meaning and practice of American democracy; has helped our Nation become a more fair and just societ; and Whereas. during Black Histors Month we recognize the achievements of Aftican Americans and their role in shaping histors along with the contributions that African Americans have made to Whereas, enhance the economic, cultural, spiritual and political development of our county; and the omission of much of the history and contributions of African Americans from textbooks and other literature has impeded awareness and appreciation; and the celebration of Black History Month is a positive way of recognizing the culture and Mierers, history of African Americans as vital to the core beliets and values of this societ; and the 2025 theme for Black History Montl, "African Americans and Labor," is a reflection on the pirotal role that the hard work of Affican Americans has plared in shaping our Miererin couty's history: It highlights the diverse and significant wars in which labor-whether roluntart or involuntary, skilled or unskilled-has been at the core of the African American experience; and
Whereas the Citt of Manhattan Beach continues to work toward becoming an inclusive community in which all citizens-past, present and future-are respected and recognized for their contributions and potential contributions to our communit; throughout our City, the state, the counts, and the world.
