There is nothing I can think of that would make this purchases more compelling than the other possible uses of this money, specifically a new public pool that has been teased now for almost 3 decades (also, the eventuality of the armory purchase). The contempt for real public participation in the decision comes from the vague possible uses outlined. Y ou are also likely taking $13M off the property tax rolls. Note that we have already "invested" in the downtown in the form of the Metlox purchase, as well as keeping the civic center downtown. Up the parking rates to "market", invest in public transportation, and you will have adequate downtown parking as well as sufficient revenues to fund existing parking structures. Keep the small-town downtown family-friendly and don't keep trying to oversaturate the area.

I would ask that Council explain specifically how it intends to use this property. I have no idea whether $13M is a good price for this .38 acre parcel, but the explanation as to the proposed uses of the property could not be more vague. It has been noted in the past that the City has more capital construction projects than it has the money to pay for them, not the least of which is a new swim complex. I appreciate the advantages of spontaneity when unforeseen opportunities arise, but before spending a lot of money for a small parcel in the face of competing demands for those funds, transparency demands a higher level of specificity. City Hall Annex? Parking? Something else? Or, are we just investing in property now, instead of using our funds for previously identified priorities?

If this goes forward, I think there needs to be city wide engagement on the use, mailers, newspapers ads, social media etc over a period of time. I would suspect this also deserves a working group and should include representatives from all areas of the city.

As part of the Robinson Green Team, I would love to see the CAAP supported by our City Council. Manhattan Beach is as environmentally forward thinking city, and we are proud of that. Let's make sure we minimize all the high costs and many other issues that comes with climate change and protect our people. Thank you.

Dear City Council,
As a Grand View Elementary School mom, I became involved with a Manhattan Beach homegrown nonprofit called Grades of Green 15+ years ago. Grades of Green's mission --empowering kids to care for the environment--became wildly popular locally (and also around the nation) because people in this oceanside town care deeply about the environment. That's why MB City Council should absolutely vote in favor of adopting the CAAP . The vast majority of your constituents do care and do want this plan implemented.

In addition, many weather experts have noted that the recent wildfires which devastated the homes and lives of our Altadena and Pacific Palisades neighbors were exacerbated by weather effects caused by climate change. To ignore our neighbors and not do our part to support sustainability and adaptation efforts would be unconscionable.

Please vote in favor of the CAAP . Thank you.
