Mherees, the City of Manhattan Beach is committed to recognizing that our growth and strength depends on the salets and essential role of our homes, buildings and infiastructure play, both in crerydas lile and when disaster strike; and
Mierers. our confidence in the resilience ofthese buildings that make up our community is achicred through the devotion of vigilant guardians--buiking salety and lie prevention ollicials, architects, engincers, builders, tradespeople, design professionals, laborers, plumbers and others in the construction industry-ho work year-round to casure the sale construction of buildings; and
Wherers, these guardians are dedicated members othe International Code Council, a nonproli that brings together local, state, territorial, tribal and federal ollicials who are esperts in the built covironment to create and implement the highest-quality codes and standards to protect us in the buildings where we live, Iearn, work and plar; and
Mierenes. these modem builing codes and standards include saleguards to protect the public fiom hazards such as hurricanes, snonstorms, tornadoes, wildland fires, Hoods and carthquakes; and
