Mierers, Congress and the President of the United Slates have designated Mar 15" as Peace Officers' Memorial Das, and the week in which May 13" falls as National Police Week; and
it is important that all citizens know and understand the duties, responsibilities, hazards and sacrilices oflaw enforcement agencies and tat law enforcement personnel recognize their duty to serre the people and saleguarding life and propert, be protecting them against violence and disorder, and by protecting the innocent against deception and the wreak agamst oppression; and

there are more than 800,000 lam enforcement officers serving in communities across the U'nited States, induding the dedicated members of the Manhattan Beach Police Department who plat an essential role in saleguarding the rights and freedoms of its residents; and
