Whereas. the Parks and Recreation Department has been providing programs and services to the residents of Manhattan Beach since 19:41; and
Mierers, our parks and recreation are vitalls important to establishing and maintaining the quality of life in our communities, ensuring the health of all citizens, and contributing to the economic and entironmental well-being of our communit and region; and Whereas residents value recreation as it provides positive alternatives for children and south to reduce crime and mischiel especially during non-school hours; it promotes the arts, it increases social connections, and promotes litelong learning; and Mherers, parks and recreation promotes time spent in nature, which positively impacts mental health be increasing cognitive performance and well-being and alleviating illness such as depression, attention delicit disorders, and Alzheimer's; and Whereas our parks and natural recreation areas ensure the ecological beauty of our communit and pronde a place for children and adults to connect with nature and recreate outdoors; and Miereci the residents of Manhattan Beach including children, routh tamilies, adults, seniors, businesses, community organizations, and risitors benefit fiom the wide range of parks, trails, open space, sports fields, tennis courts, facilities and programs; and the City of Manhattan Beach wrges all its residents to recognize that parks and recreation enriches the lires of its residents and visitors as well as adding value to the community's homes and neighborhoods.
