(Wherers, the issue of peace embraces the deepest hopes of all people and remains humanitr's guiding inspiration; and
(Mherers, in 1981 the U'nited Nations proclaimed the International Dat of Peace be devoted to commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples; and
(Whereas, the I'nited Nations expanded the observance of the International Dar of Peace in 2001 to include the call for a dat of global ceasetire and non-violence, and invited all nations and people to honor a cessation of hostilities for the duration of the Dar; and
(Whereres there is growing support within our City for the observance of the International Dar of Peace, which aftirms a vision of our world at peace, and fosters cooperation between indiriduals, organizations and nations; and
(Wherers global cuses impel all citizens to work tonard converting humanit's noblest aspirations for world peace into a practical realit of a culture of peace for future generations; and
(Wherers. the 2025 Peace Day Theme "Adrancing Peace Through te SDGs," emphasizes the crucial role ofthe Sustainable Derelopment Goals in achieving lasting peace.
Now, Therefore Be In Rescued Wat I, David Lesser, Maror of the Cit of Manhattan Beach, California, on behalf of the City Council and the residents of Manhattan Beacl, do herebt proclaim the dar of September 21, 2025 as
International Day of Peace
and uge all citizens to recognize this dar to help establish a global dar of peace in our homes, our communities and between nations.
