Proclamation
the City of Manhattan Beach recognizes that it has a vital role in identifying, protecting its residents from, and responding to cybersecurity threats that may have significant impact on our individual and collective safety and privacy; and financial services, telecommunications, transportation, utilities, health care and emergency response systems are increasingly reliant on technology; and citizens, schools, government agencies and businesses rely on the internet to conduct business, engage in commerce, access information and communicate with friends and family; and
the theme for National Cybersecurity Awareness Month is “Stay Safe Online,” to remind us that there are simple ways to protect yourself, your family and your business from online threats. The four ways to stay safe online are use strong passwords, turn on multifactor authentication, recognize and report phishing, and update software; and all Manhattan Beach residents can safeguard themselves against cyber hazards by utilizing the latest security software and implementing preparedness measures such as securing your Wi-Fi network and using long and complex passwords.
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that I, David Lesser, Mayor of the City of Manhattan Beach, California, on behalf of the City Council and the residents of Manhattan Beach, do hereby proclaim the month of October 2025, as
National Cybersecurity Awareness Month
and encourage all of our residents to recognize the importance of taking the appropriate measures to secure our cyber environment so that all citizens can take advantage of the digital information that is available to us to help expand our knowledge and continue to make technological advances in the future.
