Proclamation
National First Responders Day was founded in 2017 by the US Congress to honor the country’s First Responders and pay tribute to the ones who lost their lives in the line of duty; and
First Responders are those who are in early stages of an emergency, are responsible for the protection and preservation of life, property, evidence and the environment; and
paramedics, police officers, firefighters, doctors, medical evacuation pilots, community emergency managers, road maintenance personnel, military personnel, 911 dispatchers and members of other organizations in the public safety sector come together to protect and aid public in the event of an emergency; and First Responders are both volunteers and professionals who dedicate their lives to public service, and whose skills often make the difference between life and death; and at a moments notice, First Responders are quick to respond to dangerous and distressing situations that threaten our communities; and the services, dedication and commitment of First Responders deserve to be recognized and honored.

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that I, David Lesser, Mayor of the City of Manhattan Beach, California, on behalf of the City Council and the residents of Manhattan Beach, do hereby proclaim October 28, 2025, as
National First Responders Day
and urge all the residents of the City of Manhattan Beach to thank those individuals who have dedicated their lives to keeping our community and homes safe and protected.
