Proclamation
in 1995, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declared November 16
th
International Day for Tolerance to promote the
values of tolerance, understanding and mutual respect; and UNESCO addresses the rising global tensions stemming from cultural, religious, and social differences; and
tolerance is defined as the respect, appreciation, and acceptance of the diversity of the world’s cultures and all the ways that we are human; and tolerance is a human right to be practiced not just by individuals or families, but by entire communities and countries around the globe; and
tolerance is the notion that humanity has the right to live in peace; and International Day for Tolerance helps to support the belief that education is a key factor in preventing intolerance across the human race.

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that I, David Lesser, Mayor of the City of Manhattan Beach, California, on behalf of the City Council and the residents of Manhattan Beach, do hereby proclaim November 16
th
, 2025, as

International Day For Tolerance
and I urge all the people in the City of Manhattan Beach to embrace diversity, resolve conflicts peacefully, and foster cooperation between different groups.

Dated this 4
