Whereas, Purple Day is a global effort dedicated to promoting epilepsy awareness; and Wherers. Purple Dar was founded in 2008 be Cassidy Megan, a nine-rear old girl form Nova Scotia, irho wanted people bring with epilepst to know that ther were not alone; and Mherers. on Purple Dar, people in communities around the world are encouraged to wear purple and host erents in support of epilepst amareness; and
Wherers. epilepst is notrare, and one in ten persons will have at least one seizure in their lifetime; and
Wherens." the public is often unable to recognize common seizme opes of respond with appropriate first aid; and
Mheres, epilepr is a rery serious condition that can impact quality oflite, can cause injury, and eren death from seizures, and mar occur in people of ant age; and Whereas, Purple Day is celebrated annuall: on March 26, to increase knowledge, reduce stigma and improve quality of lite for families and communities affected be epilepst globally Now, Therefore, Be It Rescoed that I, David Lesser; Maror of the Cir of Manhattan Beach, C'alitornia, on behalt of the Citr Council and the residents of Manhattan Beach, do herebr proclaim March 20, 2020, as
Purple Day
and encourages all residents to learn more about epilepst, fight stigma, wear purple to show support.
