Wherers. Congress and the President of the United States have designated May 15" as Peace Ofticers' Memorial Dar, and the week in which Mar 15" falls as National Police Week; and
Merens. it is important that all citizens know and understand the duties, responsibilities, hazards and sacritices of lam enforcement agencies and tat lam enforcement personnel recognize their duty to serve the people and safeguarding life and property; be protecting them against violence and disorder, and be protecting the innocent against deception and the weak against oppression; and
Mierers. Peace Otticers Memorial Dar, is an annual remembrance of law enforcement ofticers who have died or who have been disabled in the lme of dut; and (Wherers,
there are more than 100,000 lam entorcement officers serving in communities across the U'nited States, including the dedicated members of the Manhattan Beach Police Department who play an essential role in safeguarding the rights and freedoms of its resilents, and

Now, Therefore Be It Rescued that 1, Daid Lesser; Mayor of the City of Manhattan Beach, Caltorma, on behalt of the City Council and the resients of Manhattan Beach, do herebr proclaim Mat 15, 2020, as
National Peace Oficers" Memorial Day
in honor of those lam enforcement officers who, through their comrageous deeds, have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community or have become disabled while pertorming their duties.
