(Wherers, parks and recreation programs is an integrit part of communities troughout this country; including Manhattan Beach; and
(Mierees. the Parks and Recreation Department has been proriding programs and services to the residents of Manhattan Beach since 1941; and
(Meerers, parks and recreation promotes health and wellness, improving the plusical and mental health of people who live near parks; and
(Wherers, parks and recreation promotes time spent in natue, which positivels impacts mental healt by increasing cognitive performance and well-being, and alleviating illnesses such as depression, attention deficit disorders, and Alzheimers; and (Wherers, parks and recreation is essential and adaptable infiastructure that makes our communities resilient in the face of'natural disasters and climate change; and (Wherers, parks and recreation is a leading provider of healths meals, nutrition services and education; and
(Mierers, the residents of Manhattan Beach including chikren, rout families, adults, seniors, busmesses, community organizations, and visitors benefit fiom the wide range of parks, trails, open space, sports helds, tennis couts, facilities and programs; and (Wherers, the Cits of Manhattan Beach urges all its residents to recognize that parks and recreation enriches the lires of its residents and visitors as well as adding ralue to the community's homes and neighborhoods.
Now. Therefore, Be I Resolved that 1, Joe Franklin, Moor of the Cits of Manhattan Beach, Callorma, on behalt of the City Council and the residents of Manhattan Beach, do herebr procaim Jul 2020 as
Partes and Recreation Month
and encomage all residents to recognize the benefits and ralues of Parks and Recreation in Manhattan Beach and participate in the mant actres taking place thus month and throughout the rear. (Dated this 7" day of July, 2026.
