Dear Consul General Kushneruk,
We, the City Council for the City of Manteca, California, write to convey the support of the people Manteca for the people of Ukraine during this incredibly challenging time. We condemn the unprovoked attacks by Vladimir Putin and the Armed Force of the Russian Federation in violation of the sovereignty of Ukraine and the fundamental rights of the Ukrainian people.
We acknowledge the gravity of this moment, including the senseless assault on your fellow citizens and their liberty. We support the rights of the Ukrainian people under both international law and basic human decency. Please know you are not alone and you have allies around the world.
We pray for the security of the Ukrainian people and hope that the swift action by the global community will end this nonsensical conflict. We support the efforts of the United States and our allies in enacting sanctions against Mr. Putin and his supporters. We support your troops as they defend their homeland and fight for their freedoms.
In sum, we stand with Ukraine. We stand with your democracy. We pray for the safety of your people and for peace. As a token of our support, the City of Manteca will fly the flag of Ukraine at Manteca City Hall on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
