Interests & Experiences
Carin M Rhodes
Tell us about yourself (i.e. background, education, career experience, interests).

I have had a lifelong career working with the public. I have been very successful in each of these positions in learning how to listen, keep an open mind, and understand the community's demographics I provided services within. I am most proud of my education in earning my MBA and BS in Health Administration.

Both these degrees have assisted me in my current position as a Deputy Public Guardian in understanding the business settings my clients reside in, the medical ailments they face, and how to navigate the endless pools of help within the health care field in finding coverage/services.

List any experiences you have serving on other Boards & Commissions in the City of Manteca or elsewhere.

None.

Question applies to Senior Advisory Committee
Why are you interested in serving on the Senior Advisory Committee? As I currently work to provide services to seniors in my present position, I understand the need for maintaining and creating programs and services for our senior community is vital. The advisory committee plays an important part in keeping the programs open that are needed by our seniors and can be enjoyed by many others. The level of communication between the committee and City Council and Parks and Recreation is important in ensuring the need of our large senior community of this city is heard.

Question applies to Senior Advisory Committee
Please tell us about any special qualifications and/or experience that you could offer as a member of the Senior Advisory Committee.

My passion for my community and helping my senior community (my community as a whole) is special in itself. I not only work to ensure the clients I service is cared for properly, I also get to know them by engaging and working to give them what is needed to make them smile, to remind them how important they still are. This is done with respect for both myself and my client and many times includes the families.

Question applies to Senior Advisory Committee
What programs and/or events would you like to see the Manteca Senior Center offer and why?
I would like the City of Manteca to hold an event that will help the senior community in selecting the right medical coverage for them. Many of our residents get lost and confused in navigating the health benefits realm. To hold in the Senior Center a day when Human, Kaiser, Sutter, Medi-Cal, Health Plan of San Joaquin, and others come in with a booth set up where they can assist our residents one-on-one to obtain the right health care benefits (dental, health, vision, etc.) for them would benefit our residents in their very near future. Many of our residents may need special care and this could also be a time where tehy can select benefits that could cover this when needed.
