RESOLUTION R2022-XX
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MANTECA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, APPOVING MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH SAN JOAQUIN REGIONAL RAIL COMMISIION REGARDING NEGOTIATING AGREEMENTS REGARDING THE EXPANSION OF THE EXISTING MANTECA TRANSIT CENTER WHEREAS, In anticipation of the Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) train service to Modesto and Ceres, slated to begin in 2023, there is a need to expand the Manteca Transit Center parking lot to add more spaces to accommodate for this new service; and WHEREAS, in 2021, the City of Manteca purchased three (3) parcels adjacent to the Manteca Transit Center for the purpose of establishing an ACE station in Manteca; and WHEREAS, the Rail Commission is purchasing two (2) parcels directly south of the City of Manteca parcels; and WHEREAS, in order to facilitate the needed improvements, the City of Manteca and Rail Commission are working collaboratively on design, construction, operations, and maintenance of the proposed ACE Manteca Station; and WHEREAS, this MOU is the next step in implementing the ACE Manteca Station and both parties agree to work together towards achieving common agreed upon goals; and WHEREAS, the City Council has considered all information related to this matter, as presented at the public meetings of the City Council identified herein, including any supporting reports by City Staff, and any information provided during public meetings.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Manteca, as follows:
1. The City Council hereby finds that the facts set forth in the recitals to this Resolution are true and correct, and establish the factual basis for the City Council’s adoption of this Resolution.
2. The City Council hereby approves the MOU with San Joaquin Rail Commission
3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Manteca at a public meeting of said City Council held on the 19th day of July, 2022, by the following vote:
