Mental Health Recovery Month
May 2023
Whereas, the area that someone lives in plays a significant role in their overall health and well-being. Manteca Wellness Center is operated by Peer Recovery Services a nonprofit agency; and Whereas, Manteca Wellness Center located in Manteca has celebrated 3 years of serving residents of the City of Manteca and County of San Joaquin in collaboration with Dignity Health Foundation and now San Joaquin County Behavioral Health Services; and Whereas, Manteca Wellness Center having served numerous members is a catalyst for transforming lives and works tirelessly to reduce the stigma of mental illness. With early and effective interventions, those individuals with mental health conditions can recover and lead full, productive lives; and Whereas, Manteca Wellness Center is a non-clinical, peer operated center for mental health consumers with and without a mental diagnosis; and Now, Therefore, I, Gary Singh, Mayor of the City of Manteca, on behalf of City Council, do recognize May 2023, as Mental Health Recovery Month. We urge all citizens to recognize the significance in reducing the stigma of mental illness.
