RESOLUTION R2023-XX
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MANTECA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING STAFF TO FLY THE COMMEMORATIVE PRIDE FLAG FOR PRIDE MONTH JUNE 2023; AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY CLERK TO PREPARE A PROCLAMATION HONORING PRIDE MONTH JUNE 2023 WHEREAS, City Council on June 21, 2022, adopted City Council Policy C-10: Flag Policy. Per City Council Policy C-10: section 2.3 (L) states “The City Council shall only consider a request to display a Commemorative Flag if the request is made by a member of the Manteca City Council. Requests to display Commemorative Flags may be placed on the City Council’s meeting agenda in accordance with City Council rules of procedure, thus requiring a consensus of the City Council.”; and WHEREAS, City Council consensus was given for City staff to bring back an item for discussion for honoring Pride Month June 2023, to include flying the Pride Flag and presenting a City Council Proclamation; and WHEREAS, the decision to fly a commemorative flag requires a 4/5 vote by the City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council has considered all information related to this matter, as presented at the public meetings of the City Council identified herein, including any supporting reports by City Staff, and any information provided during public meetings.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Manteca, as follows:
The City Council hereby finds that the facts set forth in the recitals to this Resolution are true and correct, and establish the factual basis for the City Council’s adoption of this Resolution.
Authorize City staff to fly the commemorative Pride Flag for June 2023, consistent with City Council Policy C-10 Flag Policy.
Direct the City Clerk to prepare a proclamation for Pride Month June 2023.
4. This Resolution shall take effect on the effective date immediately.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Manteca at a public meeting of said City Council held on the 16th day of May, 2023, by the following vote:
