RESOLUTION R2023-XX
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MANTECA, State of California, approving the Purchase and Sale Agreement between the City of Manteca (City) and the South San Joaquin Irrigation District (SSJID) for the Sale of unused industrial Solar Panels WHEREAS, the City of Manteca purchased industrial solar panels in March 2021 for a solar project that was to be located on approximately 11 acres of land south of the city’s Wastewater Quality Control Facility; and WHEREAS, after further review, the City decided to cancel the proposed project as it was in conflict with the City’s current vision for the area; and WHEREAS, the unused industrial solar panels are currently in storage; and WHEREAS, South San Joaquin Irrigation District (SSJID) owns and operates an industrial solar panel array at its Nick C. Degroot Water Treatment Plant (WTP); and WHEREAS, the City receives about 40% of its water supply from the WTP; and WHEREAS, SSJID’s industrial solar panels are at the end of their service life and are in need of replacement; and WHEREAS, after negotiations, the City and SSJID reached an agreement for the sale of all solar panels and corresponding equipment for $1,250,000; and WHEREAS, the City Council has considered all information related to this matter, as presented at the public meetings of the City Council identified herein, including any supporting reports by City Staff, and any information provided during public meetings.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Manteca, as follows:
The City Council hereby finds that the facts set forth in the recitals to this Resolution are true and correct, and establish the factual basis for the City Council’s adoption of this Resolution.
Approving the purchase and sale agreement between the City of Manteca and the South San Joaquin Irrigation District for the sale of unused industrial solar panels.
The City Council herby authorizes the City Manager or designee to execute the agreement for the sale of the industrial solar panels in the amount of $1,250,000.
The City Council herby authorizes the City Manager or designee to complete and execute all associated documents, and take all appropriate actions necessary to carry out the purpose and intent of the resolution.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Manteca at a public meeting of said City Council held on the 18th day of July, 2023, by the following vote:
