RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MANTECA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT PROGRAM AND APPROVING APPROPRIATION FOR SAME WHEREAS, the City of Manteca applied for and received a grant in the amount of $18,501.00 from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice requires that the City Council accept the grant funding and approve the Department's spending plan for those funds; and WHEREAS, the City of Manteca Police Department recommends these funds be used for one-time expenditures that would normally be requested from the General Fund, and not for on-going expenses.
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered all information related to this matter, as presented at the public meetings of the City Council identified herein, including any supporting reports by City Staff, and any information provided during public meetings.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Manteca, as follows:
The City Council hereby finds that the facts set forth in the recitals to this Resolution are true and correct, and establish the factual basis for the City Council’s adoption of this Resolution.
The City Council of the City of Manteca does hereby accept a $18,501 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program and approves the recording and appropriation of funds as follows:
$18,501 to Police Grant Fund, Intergovernmental Grants-Federal BJA-JAG (Revenue Account No. 150.00.00.900-4450.28) $18,501 to Police Grant Fund Supplies Police BJA/JAG (Expense Account No. 150.11.00.200.6210.16) The City Council hereby approves the intended plan of the City of Manteca Police Department to spend the grant funds on one-time expenses for the SWAT team.
4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Manteca at a public meeting of said City Council held on the 19th day of December, 2023, by the following vote:
