I grew up and have started a family in Manteca. I own my own business here in the Central Valley. My education background is in business/finance. Before I worked at UPS as their operations manager for Northern California. So I’ve dealt with large budgets and dealt with public/employee relations.

I’ve been involved as a baseball little league coach for 3 years in Turlock as well as 4 years as a youth leader at Grace River Church in Modesto.

Do you have any experience in park planning or design? What is your idea of a great neighborhood park (i.e. amenities, size, sports fields picnic tables, equipment, etc.)? I believe it is important to have areas where children and parents from this great city can come together and get out some energy or just relax in a safe and beautiful place. Play equipment for the youth and tables for adults to watch from is important. I see many families enjoy park access for birthday parties and family get togethers. Which I believe shows the values that manteca stands for-family values. Also having enough room for soccer tournaments and other sports activities is vital for children to stay healthy and create social cohesiveness between them and their peers. I’ve also seen awesome equipment at some parks that spark interest in kids in the field of sensitivity. My wife being an occupational therapist uses this kind of equipment to help her students. This type of equipment can help parents with children that have disabilities and I believe as more children are diagnosed with these challenges, it’s smart make sure they are not left out.

Please describe your experience and/or involvement (including number of years) in youth sports and recreational activities within the City of Manteca or elsewhere.
I have acquired valuable experience through my involvement in organized youth sports during my younger years. (Age 11-18) Additionally, I actively participated in high school soccer and engaged in soccer activities at various parks in Los Angeles. Currently, I contribute as a volunteer for the Manteca Dolphins(1 year), where I assist in managing swimmer's times, coordinating the check-in process, and distributing necessary items and snacks for events. Furthermore, I serve as a member of the yearbook committee for St. Anthony's Catholic School (1 year) , where I capture photographs of diverse recreational activities taking place within the school environment.

While I may not have direct experience in park planning or design, I have had the opportunity to frequent various parks with my young children, who often come up with insightful ideas that they feel are missing in these spaces. I also have the advantage of having family members employed by the City of Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Department. Their insights and experience can provide me with valuable information, knowledge needed for this position. Drawing from these experiences, I envision an ideal neighborhood park that combines tranquility and enjoyment for both children and families. In my vision, a well-maintained park would feature lush green lawns. Safety and cleanliness would be paramount in the design of the playground area, offering a range of engaging activities for children to enjoy. Furthermore, the park would encompass diverse terrain, providing ample opportunities for a multitude of recreational activities. Having lived in close proximity to parks prior to my relocation to Manteca, I have come to appreciate Woodward Park as an exemplary model that aligns with my ideals. Its two playgrounds and spacious layout cater perfectly to the needs and desires of my children. Additionally, the availability of open spaces enables them to engage in various activities such as soccer, basketball, and even boomerang throwing, further enhancing their overall park experience.
