National Portuguese Heritage Month
June 2024
Whereas, the rich cultural heritage and significant contributions of Portuguese Americans have greatly enriched the social, economic, and cultural fabric of our community; and Whereas, the celebration of National Portuguese Heritage Month provides an opportunity for all citizens to learn about and appreciate the diverse traditions, values, and history of the Portuguese people; and Whereas, recognizing and honoring Portuguese heritage fosters greater understanding and unity among all cultural groups, promoting a sense of shared history and collective pride; and Whereas, the celebration of National Portuguese Heritage Month provides an opportunity to honor and preserve the heritage, traditions, and accomplishments of Portuguese Americans, fostering greater understanding and appreciation among all citizens; and Now, Therefore, I, Gary Singh, Mayor of the City of Manteca, on behalf of City Council, do recognize that June is National Portuguese Heritage Month, and urge all residents to join me in celebrating the rich heritage and invaluable contributions of Portuguese Americans to our community.
