National Cancer Prevention Month
February 2025
Whereas, the month of February is recognized as National Cancer Prevention Month, cancer remains one of the leading causes of death globally; and Whereas, nearly half of the deaths can be attributed to preventable causes including excessive alcohol use, smoking, obesity, physical inactivity, and unprotected sun exposure; and Whereas, Through community engagement, education, and research, we can empower individuals to take control of their health and reduce or prevent their risk of cancer; and Whereas,. providing an opportunity for The City of Manteca to highlight the importance of prevention strategies in combating cancer raising awareness about risk factors, promoting healthy lifestyle choices and advocating for early detection are fundamental to cancer prevention efforts Now, Therefore, I, Gary Singh, Mayor of the City of Manteca, on behalf of City Council, do hereby recognize February 2025 as National Cancer Prevention Month. I encourage citizens to educate themselves on cancer prevention that will increase awareness.
