American Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month
April 2025
Whereas, the American Muslim community has been an integral part of our nation's social, economic, cultural, and political fabric, making significant contributions in the fields of medicine, law, business, technology, education, the arts, and public service; and Whereas, American Muslims have played a vital role in advancing civil rights, promoting interfaith understanding, and engaging in philanthropic efforts that benefit communities across the country; and Whereas, the observance of American Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month provides an opportunity to recognize the rich history and diverse contributions of the American Muslim community while fostering greater understanding and unity among all people; and Whereas, it is essential to combat prejudice and discrimination in all forms and to promote inclusivity and mutual respect, reflecting the fundamental values of our nation. American Muslims have demonstrated strength, resilience, and compassion in the face of adversity—standing up for justice, advocating for civil liberties, and building bridges across communities and faiths; and Now, Therefore, I, Gary Singh, Mayor of the City of Manteca, on behalf of City Council, do recognize April 2025 as American Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month. I encourage all to learn more about the history, culture, faith, and contributions of the American Muslim community, to uplift voices too often marginalized, and to commit to a future grounded in empathy, equality, and shared humanity.
