RE: Letter of Support – Cal Cities City Managers Work Group Recommendation on Sales Tax Policy Dear League of California Cities Leadership,
I am writing to express on behalf of the City of Manteca the strong support of the Cal Cities City Managers Work Group recommendation to update and reform the state's sales and use tax policy.

As a growing city in California's Central Valley, Manteca has witnessed firsthand the shifting dynamics of business and consumerism, particularly the growing trend of online shopping and its impact on municipal revenues. Our community, like many across the state, relies heavily on local sales tax to fund core public services — police and fire protection, parks and recreation, and other essential services.

The deliberative, cooperative work of the City Managers Work Group in developing policy reform recommendations is in line with the imperative to have a more balanced, sustainable, and locally beneficial distribution of sales tax revenues. Putting their recommendations into practice will help cities like Manteca to remain fiscally stable and continue delivering quality service to our citizens.

We thank Cal Cities for initiating this Work Group and proceeding with proposals that foster local government autonomy, maintain existing revenue sources, and address the concerns of a rapidly changing economic environment. The city of Manteca is proud to provide its support of this project and urges policymakers to take seriously the recommendations of the Work Group.

Thank you for your continued support on behalf of California's cities.

Sincerely,
Mayor Gary Singh
